The Most Wanted - Green Ginger

  • Burlington, Vermont

  • April, 2023

For my final video production project of college, I wanted to attempt to replicate the style and structure of the many live music performance videos I have appreciated during my years at the University of Vermont. Organizations and radio stations such as KEXP, KCRW, and especially NPR’s newly introduced “at home” Tiny Desk series prompted by the pandemic were major influences on my personal aspirations and efforts in creating my own recorded live performance production. The project ultimately instilled within me the utmost respect and importance for pre-production, as well as the absolute necessity for teamwork and collaboration that is required to create a substantial final product that everyone is individually proud of. Trying to coordinate each intricate aspect of the production was overwhelming, but it was ultimately a great introduction in understanding the framework of the form and helped me create my own protocol for producing similar live music performance videos in the future.

I owe so much praise and credit to the lovely crew of classmates and friends who helped make this production possible.

The Celestial Company - The Vulture (Labi Siffre Cover)

  • February, 2023

Earlier in 2023, I got the chance to assist The Celestial Company with an ambitious project to record an eight-part cover series of various songs chosen by the band. The production was a blast to be a part of and served as a great foundation for creating similar projects within this format.

All Night Boogie Band - I’ve Paid My Dues

  • Club 152 - Memphis, Tennessee

  • January, 2023

In January of 2023, I had the incredible opportunity to accompany Burlington’s “All Night Boogie Band” as they traveled to Memphis, Tennessee to compete in the International Blues Challenge against some of the best blues musicians from across the globe. The experience was more than exciting and very formative in helping me progress my skills and gain more confidence in my work. While the Boogie Band settled their challenge run in the semifinals, the adventure itself was unbelievably profound and exhilarating for all of us.

Band: Jessica Leone (Lead Vocals), Brendan Casey (Guitar), Bruno John (Bass), Van Garrison (Keys), Zach Santos (Drums)

Video Essay - Introduction to Video Art

  • Burlington, Vermont

  • May, 2022

In the spring semester of 2022, I was enrolled in an Introduction to Video Art class that very quickly put me out of my comfort zone. The course focused on abstract filmmaking and expressing vulnerabilities, which was something I always had a hard time articulating especially through my own personal media. My first few projects, while interesting, felt like they were lacking a true personal connection to my classmates and myself. What resulted was a film based on my anxieties centered around not only the course but also my place within the confines of university culture and postsecondary education.

Experiments in Place - The Burlington Barriers

  • Burlington, Vermont

  • March, 2022

How can the borders, perimeters and boundaries of spaces and places be considered differently? In asking this question, I have attempted to demarcate filmic space with diverse shots, experimental depths of field, and varying color temperatures.

One of my favorite DIY skateparks, The Barriers, serves as the site location for this visual exploration.

Video Art - Appropriation

  • Burlington, Vermont

  • February, 2022

Through appropriating a collection of pre-existing visual imagery and audio sources, this piece comments on the morbid expression of capitalism, toxic masculinity, the glorification of "the grind", and the inhuman innate condition of peer-to-peer competition.

The Comments Section - Behind the Scenes

  • South Burlington, Vermont

  • May, 2021

In collaboration with the Higher Ground music venue, the continuation of the live musical experience was enabled amidst the COVID-19 pandemic in this eight-part web series. Through my involvement with The Comments Section, a weekly variety show featuring local musicians, a contribution to the enabling of cultural exchange and community connection was made.
